Prompt: “Um ok for fluff…I could only think up comedy sorry. Korra is on her period on game day and she’s in the bathroom but she’s freaking because she can’t leave. Mako comes to the door to ask if she’s ok. Let your imagine go wild with humor. And then fluff. it’s super cheesy cliche but i want to read it.” -intellectually-badass
“OOOH I just had a great fic idea! It’s Korra’s time of the month and both Bolin and Mako are confused why she’s acting so moody then someone (possibly Jinora or Pema, idk) sees the boys being confused and explains (not in detail eww) and then Bolin and Mako cater to her needs for the whole time and Korra is confused why they’ve suddenly become doting friends. Makorralin friendship with a ship of Makorra?” -Anon
Pairing: None! Friendship Ahoy!
“Shit. Shit. Shit. I’m screwed- I’m so so so so screwed.”
Okay, so Mako was a little concerned when he heard these mumblings from the women’s locker room. There was about 3 hours until their semi-final match, and the Fireferrets were supposed to go back to their private training room to warm up and go over strategies. Councilman Tenzin and his family were going to be watching, and Mako wanted to make sure they crushed Tahno right and good.
But it appeared the Spirits were against him, because his Waterbender was now having a mini-crisis in the bathroom.
“Korra?” He asked hesitantly, knocking on the door. “You okay in there?”
“No no no no no no.” Her words were muffled by the wood, but the torturous tone was clear. Bolin jogged down the hallway, glancing at his brother questioningly.
“What’s wrong, bro?” The Earthbender buzzed, kneading his palms together nervously. “Big match in a few hours you know…”
“I know.” Mako frowned at the doorknob. “Something’s wrong with Korra though. Korra, can we come in?”
“NO. You most certaintly cannot come in!” Her voice was laced with enough poison to make Mako take a step back in shock. “Look… Um… Jinora should be here soon to give me something. I’ll be fine in a few minutes as long as you leave me alone.”
“Are you sure-?” Bolin began, but was cut off when Korra snapped:
“Yes. I’m sure. Now leave.”
Both brothers looked at each other, unsure of what to do. Finally, Bolin shrugged, sliding against the wall and sitting down adjacent to the threshold. Mako followed suit, listening to Korra as she grumbled.
“Oh no no no no no no no. Why today?”
Korra had been acting snappy lately, that much was true. But why did she choose that moment to break down?
“Korra!” A female voice called from down the hall. Jinora sped down the hallway on a ball of air, brandishing a plastic bag and skidding to a stop in front of the locker room’s entrance. ”I brought your tampons-“
She noticed the boys, whose cheeks were now adorned with furious blushes.
“Jinora?” Korra enquired. “Is that you?”
“Y-Yeah.” Jinora grumbled in response. She turned to the two boys when Korra’s footsteps come close to the door. “Hide.” She mouthed.
The brothers didn’t need to be told twice, for they hid behind the wall immediately, close enough to easedrop, but far enough to not be caught.
Korra bursted through the entryway, relief evident on her features.
“Oh thank you thank you thank you thank you!” She squealed, pulling Jinora up into a hug and spinning her around. She snatched up the bag, and before the Airbending child even had time to say ‘You’re welcome’, she slammed the door shut again.
Mako and Bolin slowly crawled out of their hiding spots, their spying mission nullified. Jinora turned to them, and as if they needed to be informed, said:
“She’s on her period.”
The teens nodded dumbly, words failing them. Having a female on their team was a new thing for them, so the menstrual cycle was a mysterious and exotic thing.
“What should we do?” Bolin voiced after a small bout of silence.
“Chocolate.” Jinora replied simply, already making her way back to the stadium seats where her family awaited. “Lots and lots of chocolate.”
After the match, Korra would later be profusely confused with the absurd amount of candy her teammates provided her with.
